Just “Breathe”
Just “Breathe”
Breathe: A verb that means the action of inhaling and exhaling air
When we first started in business it was a world wind of activities beyond just baking. From dawn to dusk and beyond, a steady movement of business obligations. Bills, networking, vending events, cleaning, shopping, ordering and the list was and still never ending. Then there were the orders, production and maintaining our store with baked goods.
Around five o’clock in the afternoon after long hours, we realized we had not eaten, sat down, or even drank some water. We were working seven days a week, and open 5 days a week. No time off, no chance to “BREATHE”!!!
What we have learned over the years is to just BREATHE
Break: Make yourself stop and listen to your body. If you are tired take time to refresh. It could be as little as 10 to15 mins to sit and check out. Drink water and eat something. We keep small snacks around to keep our energy levels up.
Evaluate : Schedule a time to check emails, review finances, order supplies and other business duties. Doing this first thing before the day gets slammed with the unexpected chaos.
Achievements: Take time to see how well you are doing and congratulate yourself/partners for your success big and small.
Tenacious:Give yourself some grace. Yesterday’s mistakes will be great starts for the next day. You will learn your inner strength and resilience to keep going.
Happiness: Remember why you are doing what you are doing. Joy should be felt everyday even through rough times.
Evidence: Take periodic inventory. Look how far you have come and plan for next steps.
Remember Just “BREATHE” I promise you it will get better.
